Java Junkie

I'm a java junkie!
When I go out to coffee houses,
I drink my coffee tall and hot,
with chocolate--
or some other intriguing ingredient--
added.

I'm a java junkie!
I drink my coffee hot and black,
one mug after another and,
(on those rare occasions)
when there is a cup or two leftover
I pour it into a Tupperware container
to wait for reheating in the microwave
on those evenings when my muse
refuses to let me sleep.

I'm a java junkie!
I cane make my coffee
in a percolator,
a drip coffeemaker,
or by boiling it in a saucepan
on the stove.

Java Junkie was the name of the large coffees at the reJavanate. I wrote the first two stanzas of this poem while attending open mic poetry readings there in 2007. The last stanza I added while transcribing it into this journal.
