Location: The Warehouse

The Warehouse is an unlicensed and unofficial bar and dance club operated by local crime kingpin Karol Mathis and located in the post-apocalyptic industrial section of Saratoga Falls. It formerly belonged to one of the Van den Berg family businesses and is connected to the abandoned grain elevator by the railroad tracks.

The Warehouse is a physically imposing structure built of brick. It is three stories high and covers at least three acres of land. The walls are blank up to the third floor, which have windows running along under the eaves of the roof. These windows are dirty, cracked, and in many cases broken.

Inside, the Warehouse has only two floors. The first floor is divided into two main sections, with half of the building given over to a dance floor and stage. The other half is divided into a series of saloons. Vendors work at makeshift bars made of plywood sheets set on sawhorses, selling packaged snacks, beer, liquor, and marijuana. Most of the rest of the rooms contain chairs, tables, and booths reclaimed from salvage yards and abandoned restaurants. In the saloon farthest from the dance floor is another, smaller stage where smaller musical acts can perform.

The top floor, which consisted of offices, is a makeshift hotel. It costs twenty dollars a person for fifteen minutes in a room; fifty dollars a person for an hour. Each room has a mattress; clean sheets can be rented for an extra ten dollar charge. Condoms can also be purchased.

Beneath the first floor is a basement area with small rooms that have the character of dungeons. These are highly secret and kept strictly for the use of staff.

The Warehouse is a high-school-only venue, and although IDs are not checked, anyone who is not obviously a high school student will be chased off the premises. The age limit applies to the staff as well, though a few exceptions have been made in the case of key vendors who have recently graduated.

Entertainment is provided by school bands or by DJs if no bands are scheduled to play.

Vendors in the Warehouse operate independently but must buy their supplies from Mathis. Each vendor is given a monopoly on a particular product--a brand of beer; a type of liquor; weed--and are required to make a minimum weekly purchase. They derive their profits by taking in more in sales than they pay out. Mathis does not take a cut of the sales, so there is no need to keep and examine books; he typically collects seven to eight thousand a week. Naturally, he pays off the cops to look the other way to what goes on out there.

On-site management is handled by Dwayne Macaulay, an old hand at dealing with high school students. He collects the money and fulfills the orders, and he also pays for security in the form of marijuana sold at a deep discount to the security staff. In practice, the entire supply is purchased by Erik Carstairs, who oversees the security staff, and parcels it out as he sees fit to a staff that is predominantly made up of Westside students.

The staffing situation at the time of BoM is below. Some vendors work only one night; others on two. "I" indicates the security member polices the interior for trouble; "X" indicates he stands guard outside and directs traffic. Each security member works on only one night (Friday or Saturday)

The Warehouse is open to large parties only on Fridays and Saturdays. All other days of the week--morning, noon or night--you enter at your peril.
