Domino Rhyme: "The Desire to Help"
When I sit in a lonely chair
the burden of my fellow man
is silent in my resting ears,
but then I walk outside my door.
The hurts assail me, where I stand.
Compassion in the heart of me
sends groans throughout my weary soul.
Desire to help's beyond all fears.
I hold the door, the crutch I see.
A tearful child needs Mom to find.
Some walking friend needs water's cup.
A meal with me makes homeless whole.
But are these gifts the best of kind?
How much do I help the full need?
I've helped a few, but more await.
Now, back at home I sit and sup.
The world of hurts makes heart to bleed,
but little does more than just stare.
"Do what you can from shore to shore,"
the world thus bids in daily gait.
