Trekking Through the Woods

To walk upon the beaten way
is fast and makes good time,
but underbrush can take all-day,
and seems an uphill climb.

We trudge, and trudge, and trudge, again.
Our progress seems but naught,
until we find a way to win,
so others can be taught.

The vines of doubt wrap 'round our feet,
uncertain how to live,
until these lies machetes meet
to free our hearts to give.

The social forest blinds our sight.
Each limb of Self distracts.
Just part the boughs and let the light
show all the kindest acts.

To walk upon the beaten way
refuses those we miss,
but trudging underbrush each day
shows we were made for this.
