the little girl and the dog

Pantoum

The pantoum consists of a series of quatrains rhyming ABAB in which the second and fourth lines of a quatrain recur as the first and third lines in the succeeding quatrain; each quatrain introduces a new second rhyme as BCBC, CDCD. The first line of the series recurs as the last line of the closing quatrain, and third line of the poem recurs as the second line of the closing quatrain, rhyming ZAZA.





The little girl and her dog

The little girl plays with her puppy
She loves him so very much.
They like to play because he is funny,
They play ball and run and such.

She loves him so very much.
Her dog is her very best friend.
They play ball and run and such,
They will be together until the end.

Her dog is her very best friend,
He is the one for which she depends.
They will be together until the end.
They play chase and run against the wind

They will be together until the end,
They like to play because he is funny,
They play chase and run against the wind.
