God's Blue Earth
Devised by James R. Gray, the Oriental Octet has a syllabic line structure similar to the Haiku and Tanka extended to eight lines with 5-7-5-7-7-5-7-5 syllables per line. As with Haiku, the content should cover a theme of Nature

God’s Blue Earth

Blue earth, water-filled
Flowers growing tall and sweet
Upon the green land
Rain from heaven feeds the plants
Rivers flowing to the sea
Colors of beauty
What a striking land is earth
Beauty’s in His Hand.
