Shakespearean Sonnet: "Love for God and Man"
Is love the safety found in Mom's embrace?
Is love a meal of sex between two souls?
Is love an earthly home, a wondrous place?
Is love a lifelong friend to share my goals?
Agapé shows me how to love like God,
and storgé shows me fam'ly built on worth.
Phileo grants a friend I would applaud,
and eros, sexual love, that brings a birth.
But love is selfless, making Self to be
a hindrance to the gift of love we give.
To love our friend, to love our God, it's free,
but costs the giver every way to live.
The sacrifice of love will give its best
to God and Man beyond this earthly test.
