A shortish book about when the rift between the living and the dead began to close.

There are two types of souls. One, the Scintil, which are the turned-evil souls of anyone who died in pain. Two, the Fairna, the good souls of anyone who died peacefully.
It is set in the year 2083, which is why there are some things there that haven't been invented.
There are two main characters, and the book alternates between them. These are Karzil and Nyla; Karzil is a human, Nyla is a Fairna.
