It sounds a bit odd that there wouldn't even be a break at the end for chitchat but whatever works for the group, I suppose. Even though I am in a house full of adults, they find a million reasons to peek into my office and interrupt. If I close the door, they all open it to see what I'm doing and let the herd of cats in. Cats hate closed doors. It's not that they want to be in the room, they just want to be sure you're not stuck in there or something. Having a quiet place to focus and write sounds wonderful.
My spouse loves to read the Farmers Almanac and quote things to me. Just to be clear, we don't have a farm, or much of a yard, but he's a farmer in his soul. He also traveled a lot for work for many years and just switched away from traveling so much. He said he was tired of waking up in a generic hotel room and not remembering where he was. Or what color rental car he had this week. It's a little less on the payroll side but he's happier coming home for dinner and hogging the remote for his own tv.

Is this the same sci-fi novel I was reviewing a while back? Congratulations! It's not easy to finish writing a whole book. Now the hard work begins: revising.
A limit can be good so you don't get burned out and have time to think ahead. I wouldn't worry so much about capping the word count, because you'll lose some in the edit process. Just keep writing!
