Another attempt at getting to know others and myself
It is a new year and therefore I will try again to look under the crusty shell that I call myself. I am a bit confused about what that will mean for my dreams of writing bliss. If I go by responses to my blogs I might just as well hide in my shell and never come out. There is something more fundamental here. I am determining to find out what it means to be comfortable with who I am. This is why I sprinkle the word religion in there. I am someone who sees oneself on a journey. A good deal of that journey is dealing with the vestiges of mental illness. It is what cause my to leave home almost forty years ago. Here I am in the Midwest, where I have fathered three beautiful kids. I wonder if I need to go back to where I came from in Massachusetts to make peace with the past that I ran from or maybe I will discover ways to be at peace where I am. One of the more interesting realities that has come to light is that many of my family members outside my growing up family have been affected by mental illness. Just recently a cousin commented on this. I never felt close to this cousin until she commented on the how many family members outside of who I am familiar with are affected. I think it is one of those dirty little secrets that no one wants others to know about. So if you want to quest on what it means to be mentally healthy follow after as I fall down and pick myself up. It is a part of my "religious understanding". I am here both inspirationally and spiritually to get a clearer sense of purpose and hope. I am an ordained minister, which is more than an after thought. Pray for me as I pray for you. Maybe and most probable the same love that brought us together will bring us back together again.
