         ~ My Baby Brother ~

September 22, 1959. A day I remember.

It was the day my baby brother was born. 💕

I might be the only person alive who remembers that day.

We have two sisters who were alive when Marshall Robaire came into the world. I was seven. The other girls were five and two years old.

I am certain the two year old does not remember. I will have to ask my other sister if she remembers.

What do I remember?

I remember when Marshall was born, Daddy drove us to the hospital and, apparently, my mother held the baby boy up to the window of her hospital room for us to see.

We could not see anything. Could Daddy see them? I only know I could not see a thing. Was I looking at the wrong window?

My brother was named Marshall Robaire. I am not sure why my mother chose that spelling for his middle name. Did she know how to spell Robèrt? Did she spell it phonetically on purpose so it would be pronounced correctly?

For many years, we called my baby brother by his middle name. Why? Because I upset my mother by declaring, "He can be the marshal when we play cowboys and indians."

For whatever reason, that idea was very displeasing to Mommy and she insisted we only called him Robaire.

He had lots of Bear nicknames over the course of his life. So did his son who is a junior. I remember when they were "Papa Bear" and "Baby Bear".

My brother goes by Marshall today. I can't remember when that changed.

Sadly, my brother and I are estranged today. It is sad when contact is severed within a family.

You can read about the last time we saw each other. I wrote about it here: "~ Two Hugs ~Open in new Window..

I miss my baby brother and probably always will. *HeartBroken*
