An *Airbus 380* is on it's way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at *800 km/h* at *30,000 feet*, when suddenly a *Eurofighter with Tempo Mach 2* appears.

The pilot of the fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the pilot of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus, boring flight isn’t it?

Now have a look here !

He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, then swoops down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks, "Well, how was that?"

The Airbus pilot answers: "Very impressive, but now you look !"

The jet pilot watches the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly stubbornly straight, with the same speed. After 15 minutes, the Airbus pilot radios, "Well, how was that?"

Confused, the jet pilot asks, "What did you do?" The AirBus pilot laughs and says, "I got up, stretched my legs, walked to the back of the aircraft to use the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee and a chocolate fudge pastry.

_The moral of the story is:_

*When you are young, speed and adrenaline seems to be great.*

*But as you get older and wiser you learn that comfort and peace are more important.*

_*This is called S.O.S.: Slower, Older, but Smarter.*_

_*Dedicated to 'All My Friends' who are like me, now realising that it is time to slow down and enjoy the rest of the trip.*_

Maharaj repeatedly asserts that he would not care to discuss ethics, the codes morality, the modes of conduct prevailing in society. He would deal only with the
unchangeable true nature of man himself. If one understands, apprehends one's true identity, all the rest loses its significance and importance because all subsequent thoughts and actions, not being based on duality, would be simple, direct, intuitive and spontaneous.

This view of Maharaj is found to be extremely difficult to accept, not only by the new visitors, who perhaps feel that he is shying away from the very crux of the problem of life, but also by some others who have listened to him over a long period. They find it impossible to accept the dichotomy of the two. Whatever conclusion and conviction one may come to regarding one's true nature, how can one afford not to give as much, or even more, thought to one's relationship with and behaviour
towards one's fellow beings?

So, when Maharaj defined his attitude in this regard at a session, one of the regular visitors, a lady, could not restrain herself from asking a rather pointed question:
Maharaj, would it be right and proper for a person to listen to you most attentively, understand thoroughly what you have to say to the extent that he becomes a Jnani, and then to go out and prepare an atom bomb and use it if he felt like it?

Maharaj promptly replied: If you had only thought seriously about this matter, keeping in mind the basic fact that you had no wants, no needs, no problems at a certain point of time — say, a hundred years ago — you would have arrived at the answer yourself; the answer being that the
question itself is misconceived!
If, as you say, a person understands and accepts his true identity to the extent of being a Jnani, would he not come to the conclusion that all phenomena, all sentient beings, including himself as a phenomenon, are nothing but conceptual images in mind, as imaginary as those in a dream?

Would someone who has deeply apperceived this truth think of preparing an atom bomb, let alone using it?
But this is only a superficial answer to satisfy the ignorant. What you must find out is who are these 'me', 'you' and 'him' that we are talking about, who are supposed to be doing this or that, according to their sweet will and pleasure!

How do you see yourself?
You see your body—or really a part of it— and you identify yourself with it. But in deep sleep, or under sedation, you do not
identify yourself with this body. What really happens is that the appearance of your body in consciousness is perceived and interpreted by you exactly as it is done by any other observer. Your own interpretation about yourself is as illusive and ephemeral as that of others, though maybe a little more flattering! The point to be noted is that the solid personality you think yourself to be is
nothing more than an appearance in consciousness. What is more, the interpretation will change, and has been changing, from time to time. Any thought about yourself, whether your own or
someone else's, is only a movement in consciousness, only a temporary mental image. That is all that you are.

But is that truly you?
Only a mental image?
Is there really any image with which one
could identify oneself as an unchangeable, independent, autonomous entity, with choice of action?

Relatively — phenomenally — 'you', or 'me' is nothing more than that speck of physical matter which was conceived in a womb and within which was latent the spark of consciousness that is immanent in the entire manifestation.
The innumerable forms of phenomena in relativity are all objects of the Absolute subjectivity— 'I',
the basis of manifestation being duality through a subject and object, every object being the 'other' to whichever object that is perceiving it in the capacity of a supposed subject.
Not a single object has any independent existence as such. We all are mere
appearances in consciousness, concepts in mind, each sentient being, being nothing more than his own concept and the concepts of those whom he considers as 'others'.
If you have no independent existence, how can you act?
Do you indeed act at all?
Or, do you only react to an outside stimulus like a puppet?

If you would sit still and see what happens, you would quickly realize that we do not really 'live' but are 'being lived'; that life as such is nothing more than what might be called an apparent functioning — apparent because all the functioning is, again, nothing more than a panoramic appearance in consciousness.

If there is no consciousness, as in deep sleep or under sedative, there is no functioning either.
Then, in all this functioning where do 'we' come in?
That is the ultimate joke in this comedy of
Maya! 'We' have not only never been out of it, but the entire functioning is nothing but us. What we are is the whole, holy, noumenal Absolute, sensorially imperceptible, and perceived and cognized
only in relative duality as manifested phenomena. 'We' are transcendence phenomenally as 'I', and immanence noumenally depending on how we see ourselves.

There is nothing but 'I', no 'me', no 'other'. I
n relative manifestation,
phenomena are conceptualized in consciousness as 'me', and each object, assuming subjective identity, cognizes the other objects as 'others', but noumenally, there is only the subjective 'I' without any duality.

Now let us come back to your atom bomb. If you have really apperceived this, is it possible for you to go on thinking any longer that there is any villain in life with an independent, autonomous entity, possessing enormous power for 'evil'?
Or, that there is any Avatar possessing enormous power for 'good'?
Are they both anything other than the drop that got conceived?
Surely you must realize that 'good' and 'bad' are mere inter-dependent opposites, essential manifestations in duality,
appearances in consciousness acting their respective roles in the total functioning. Indeed, believing in and identifying oneself with an entity is all the 'bondage' there is, and realizing that there can be no entity, separate from the overall functioning of Prajna, is instant liberation.

Is there an imaginary cutoff period when
Offspring become accountable
For their own actions?

Is there some wonderful moment when
Parents can become detached spectators in
The lives of their children and shrug,
'It's Their life,' and feel nothing?

When I was in my twenties,
I stood in a hospital corridor
Waiting for doctors to put a few stitches
In my son's head and I asked,
'When do you stop worrying?'
The nurse said,
'When they get out of the accident stage..'
My Parents just smiled faintly
And said nothing.

When I was in my thirties,
I sat on a little chair in a classroom
And heard how one of my children
Talked incessantly, disrupted the class,
And was headed for a career
Making license plates.
As if to read my mind, a teacher said,
'Don't worry, they all go through this stage
And then you can sit back,
Relax and enjoy them.'
My Parents just smiled faintly
And said nothing.

When I was in my forties,
I spent a lifetime waiting
For the phone to ring,
The cars to come home,
The front door to open.

A friend said,
'They're trying to find themselves.
'Don't worry!
In a few years, they'll be adults.
'They'll be off on their own
They'll be out of your hair'
My Parents just smiled faintly
And said nothing.

By the time I was 50,
I was sick tired of being vulnerable.
I was still worrying over my children,
But there was a new wrinkle..
Even though they were on their own
I continued to anguish over their failures,
Be tormented by their frustrations and
Absorbed in their disappointments..
And there was nothing I could do about it.
My Parents just smiled faintly
And said nothing.

My friends said that
When my kids got married
I could stop worrying
And lead my own life.
I wanted to believe that,

But I was haunted by my parent's warm smiles
And their occasional,
'You look pale. Are you all right' ?
'Call me the minute you get home'.
Are you depressed about something?'

My friends said that
When I became a grandparent
That I would get to enjoy
The happy little voices yelling
Grandma! Papa!
But now I find that I worry
Just as much about the little kids
As the big ones.
How can anyone cope with all this Worry?

Can it be that parents are sentenced
To a lifetime of worry?
Is concern for one another
Handed down like a torch
To blaze the trail of human frailties
And the fears of the unknown?
Is concern a curse or is it
A virtue that elevates us
To the highest form of earthly creation?

Recently, one of my own children
Became quite irritable, saying to me,
'Where were you?
I've been calling for 3 days,
And no one answered
I was worried.'
I smiled a warm smile.
The torch has been passed.

Manifestation implies consciousness. It has no form. Mind has no form. When there is no body, there is no form.
Presently, you are pure consciousness in the body. It is the sense of your own beingness. It is subtler than space.

Even in the case of great incarnations, there was no sensation of ‘I am’ prior to the incarnation. Parabrahman in His true state has no knowledge of His beingness. Sri Rama was Parabrahman, yet his Guru had to impart Self-knowledge to him.
What does it mean when someone claims to have chosen his parents, claiming himself to be an incarnation?
What evidence do they give?
Such people are ignorant. When there is no body, there is no knowledge.

The word implies prana, the vital force. The food for prana is the body, and consciousness is the knowingness. It is the assurance of our existence. It is Brahman. It is the word. It is the vibration of
manifestation.

One who punishes and the one who suffers from punishment have the same consciousness. One who punishes is the same as the one who undergoes punishment. To say this openly, it is necessary to be convinced of one’s true nature. The root of sorrow is the very company of prana. It is difficult to bear your
sense of ‘I am’. Your existence, the presence of God Itself, is sorrow. All worldly activities are undertaken to bear this sorrow. If there is a disturbance in the body, have the courage to say, ‘God (consciousness), now
go away’.

It is only after birth that some become engineers, scientists or doctors and, similarly, some become sadhus, jnanis and yogis. However, what happens if there is no birth at all? What is called birth is filled with an infinite number of universes. You can meditate on anything and it will manifest before you. In whom is the dream world created? Is it not in you?

You are not yet free of the concept that you will get great good in the body-form. The vital force in the body is consciousness – the Atman. The pure nature of Sri Krishna is the same as your own nature. The One that
makes the body move cannot be perceived.

You must listen without the body-sense. The real nature of the listener is of the nature of the Self. It is your true nature. Use your consciousness for worship. Rituals are for the satisfaction of the mind. There is no
experience of the mind in the worship of the Self.

Much is seen with the eyes open. However, with closed eyes what is seen is the place where all the yogis have gone. Perfect sight is the one without ‘seeing’. So long as you wish to get success in life for comfort of
the body, nothing can be accomplished. All seekers have ultimately merged into the life force. The movement of the vital force is given names such as Brahman. One particle of consciousness is also the ocean of consciousness. The state of the Self has no duality. My speaking and your listening do not imply two Gods. It means I am speaking to myself. God does not have to enjoy the fruits of virtue or suffer from the results of sin. One who does not treat himself as God has to experience the same.

Till such time as your consciousness is properly satisfied, it must be worshipped with the mind and then with no-mind. (Worship with no-mind means to remain thoughtless as pure consciousness.)
How does the Guru offer his grace?
When he talks about his experience, know that it is your own. This should be
understood with the fullest conviction. Repeated contemplation is like churning. It creates a poison along with the nectar of knowledge. The poison is the ego. It has to be swallowed up by right thinking.

One who is unsure about direct knowledge should practice devotion. It is the purpose of life. It is also the remembrance of the Guru-word. Keep repeating that you have neither birth nor death, neither sin nor virtue, you are not the body, you are eternal. Do mental worship. Wherever the mind goes, the Sadguru is there.
Have faith in His word.

Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman
and wished I were as beautiful.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and used a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two legs; the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two eyes; the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child I knew.
He stood and watched the others play,
but he did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said,
Why don't you join them dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
I forgot, he couldn't hear.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two ears; the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go,
With eyes to see the sunset's glow,
With ears to hear what I'd know,
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

. THE SPIRITUAL ASPIRANT, THE
FIRST MOMENT OF BLISS AND ITS
CONTINUOUS GROWTH

The ever-awaited first moment was the moment when I was convinced that I was not an individual at all. The idea of my individuality had set me burning so far. The scalding pain was beyond my capacity to endure; but there is not even a trace of it now, I am no more an individual. There is
nothing to limit my being now. The ever present anxiety and the gloom have vanished and now I am all beatitude, pure
knowledge, pure consciousness.

The tumors of innumerable desires and passion were simply unbearable, but fortunately for me, I got hold of the
hymn “Hail, Preceptor”, and on its constant recitation, all the tumors of passions withered away as with a magic spell!

I am ever free now.
I am all bliss, sans spite, sans fear.
This beatific conscious form of mine now knows no bounds.
I belong to all and everyone is mine.
The “all” are but my own individuations, and these together go to make up my beatific
being. There is nothing like good or bad, profit or loss, high or low, mine or not mine for me. Nobody opposes me and I
oppose none for there is none other than myself. Bliss reclines on the bed of bliss. The repose itself has turned into
bliss.

There is nothing that I ought or ought not to do, but my activity goes on everywhere, every minute. Love and anger are divided equally among all, as are work and
recreation. My characteristics of immensity and majesty, my pure energy, and my all, having attained to the golden core, repose in bliss as the atom of atoms. My pure consciousness shines forth in majestic splendor.

Why and how the consciousness became self-conscious is obvious now. The experience of the world is no more of the world as such, but is the blossoming forth of the selfsame conscious principle, God, and what is it?
It is pure, primal knowledge, conscious form, the primordial “I” consciousness that is capable of assuming any form it desires. It is designated as God. The world as the divine expression is not for any profit or loss; it is the pure, simple, natural flow of beatific consciousness. There are no
distinctions of God and devotee, nor Brahman and Maya. He that meditated on the bliss and peace is himself the ocean of
peace and bliss. Glory to the eternal truth, Sad-Guru, the Supreme Self.
