Ten years ago I was writing several blogs on various subjects - F1 motor racing, Music, Classic Cars, Great Romances and, most crushingly, a personal journal that included my thoughts on America, memories of England and Africa, opinion, humour, writing and anything else that occurred. It all became too much (I was attempting to update the journal every day) and I collapsed, exhausted and thoroughly disillusioned in the end.
So this blog is indeed a Toe in the Water, a place to document my thoughts in and on WdC but with a determination not to get sucked into the blog whirlpool ever again. Here's hoping.
Ahh... I submitted my three for consideration. Perhaps you should take a gander to "Quill Self-Submission Forum" with your items. It would be your daily forum post if you haven't already.
I have, for years, wanted to write a semi-fictional story, or even a series, about three past pets and their antics. At the time, these three continued to entertain us, and like you, I put off the story because it had not fully developed yet. After they passed, it was too painful to write, and in time the idea faded. Thank you for reminding me, perhaps now would be a great time for me to relive those wonderful years and share their story.
I have a question... how are you finding the water? Are your toes comfortable?
I too support many blogs and a web page plus do editorial work. This is
eye opening for me and I have set a minimum number of posts a month
in order to keep things under control.
The key for me has been to remind "ME" that I am the one in control. What
is expected is what I expect from Myself!
I did not have to travel to the Land of Echocardiograms to have them take pictures of my ticker. Instead, a couple of technicians from that land arrived, pushing/driving this monstrosity of a machine into my hospital room, where once they had it parked, opened it, and proceeded to cover my chest with some KY Jelly.
I am due for another echocardiogram in three months; I will travel to and see the Land of Echocardiograms then.
Yesterday I realised that, apart from my music posts, I only post about old age these days. Obviously, this is a result of my having reached an age that even I consider old but I suppose I ought to strive to extend my outlook beyond the narrow confines of my own experience, if only to keep the young and middle aged entertained.
The problem then becomes that I have pontificated often enough in the past on those more youthful ages of man and I really don't want to repeat myself. Even that is presuming that you were listening at the time, which is surely an almost life-threatening presumption, if you ask me.
So I am left with the proposition that I should write about what interests me now, rather than set myself up as some sort of archaeologist of ancient pre-history. And what interests me at present is this phenomenon of ageing. It seems I might as well get on with it.
All of which turns out to be a long-winded way of saying that I post about old age and, if you don't like it, why are you reading it?
