Ten years ago I was writing several blogs on various subjects - F1 motor racing, Music, Classic Cars, Great Romances and, most crushingly, a personal journal that included my thoughts on America, memories of England and Africa, opinion, humour, writing and anything else that occurred. It all became too much (I was attempting to update the journal every day) and I collapsed, exhausted and thoroughly disillusioned in the end.
So this blog is indeed a Toe in the Water, a place to document my thoughts in and on WdC but with a determination not to get sucked into the blog whirlpool ever again. Here's hoping.
They want you to schedule your next appointment so you can read the rest of the article. Probably immoral, but my mother used to shove the magazine in her purse and take it home with her. She had congestive heart failure, and she never knew when-or if-she'd be back to finish the magazine.
I am a crocheter, and so I have quite the collection of yarns. Right now, they are in see through plastic containers under my craft table. Will I get through the stack? There's a likelyhood that I will not, but then again, who knows? Order/disorder...seems to be my lot in life.
When I was twenty, I used to jot down quotes I thought were meaningful in my notebook.
But Nelson’s “Thank God, I have done my duty” truly sounds like the words of a real soldier.
The distortion of time and enhanced memory does wreak havoc on many catch phrases as you illustrate. I cannot fathom a life distilled to that one unforgettable line. I wonder if my grandgiggles will remember me offering this reply to their questions. I'm going crazy. Want to come?
I loved this!!! Thank you for sharing it. I clung on to every word. I love dogs, though we don't currently own one due to traveling Southwest each winter. Though many people we see in campgrounds and RV parks, own 1 - 3 dogs! It seems to be a trend right now. But anyway, this was so well-written. Again, thank you.
Ah... Sometimes I wonder why people actually own dogs. It all seems rather complicated and dangerous, something to read and write about but not experience. Thanks for sharing!
Whether or not the muse has departed, it seems that I am still able to scribble a few words down in an endeavour to rejoin the flow of WdC. I wrote something for Solace’s three daily exercises yesterday and I’ve done the same today. Plus a little something for Promptly as well. They’re small and inconsequential but at least reassure me that I can still shout abuse from the sidelines.
It’s the reviews that remain a fearsome obstacle. I don’t care about the badges anymore so that’s not the problem. The sacred duty to pay back the debt to WdC is what matters and reviews are the best way to do that. In time, I’ll be able to return to the field, hopefully.
