StephBee - Oh yes, it was successful. Aside from ticket sales (to doting parents and other such! ) we had a 'programme' with advertisements. We also had extra donations.
The Principal of my school was very dynamic. In fact, to this dsy, the school comes out #1 Girls' day school in India in polls undertaken by various leading magazines. This 'festival of one-act plays' was a major project of hers each year. We had three plays, two in English and one in Hindi. Leading theatre and movie personalities would 'judge' our performances. (I was told I missed getting a prize by a few points - three prizes were awarded per play and I was #4. My Principal thought I should've got a prize and announced that in the assembly and even wrote something nice about my acting in her character reference to me when I finished school.)
The year after this, the school staged 'The Diary of Anne Frank' and after that, 'The Life of Helen Keller'.
Ẃeβ࿚Ẃỉtcĥ That little kid is all grown now, living in Seattle, Washington, USA, with two sons of his own. His elder son (my nephew) is training for the US Army while doing his college course.

I haven't been to India, either, but I sure love your food! I guess that's why I enjoyed the movie, The Hundred-Foot Journey. It made me hungry though!

Humming Bird – I don't really recall what happened after that, his 'big win' was the highlight! I must've got my usual biscuits or clips or soap or something! I remember how dotingly people had looked at him, and he basked in it though he didn't quite know what for!
