Most of us are familiar with the ten commandments. They are often touted as the most important rules to live by. Four of the commandments are of a religious nature and some people may not agree with them; six are of a more general moral nature. Please review the original 10 commandments below, go vote in the poll "Invalid Item" if you haven't done so already and come back here to view the next post. I hope this will be the start of a lively discussion. The Original Ten I'm using the Jewish numbering system and summary language, as found in Wikipedia. The Catholic and Protestant versions are essentially the same, but some of the items are grouped or broken down differently. 1. I am your Lord and God;You shall have no other gods before Me. 2. You shall not make for yourself an idol. 3. You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God. 4. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. 5. Honor your parents. 6. You shall not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not bear false witness. 10. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife or house. Marcia |
