Writing.Com General Discussion

I'm taking another course currently. It's offered freely by Reedsy [https://blog.reedsy.com/learning/]. Hopefully, it will get me motivated to get into a good routine of writing. Unfortunately, I already hit a snag. I'm being told to name my audience for the book I want to write. My book will be about the struggles of having a mental illness. Obviously, this is an adult topic but how would I define the adults who would be interested in this subject? I tried to find other books written down this same line. There aren't many of them. Most of what I found was in the category of thriller, which is not going to be part of my story.

Can anyone help me with this?
