work in progress- writing assignments & links for use in the home school |
OK, one more thing before we've beaten this one to death. I thought the arguments used in the persuasive letters & polls would be good material for practice at writing dialogue. Review the rules for punctuating quotations with your teacher before starting this assignment! Don't forget to start a new paragraph every time your speaker changes. Post your dialogue in this forum once the rough draft has been checked. This will take at least two days (rough draft one day, final posting another). 1st-3rd.grade: Write out a conversation between you and your mom or dad. Ask them something, and have them say no. Have them explain why not. Then describe your reaction. (this may be dictated to a parent, then copied by the kid, if appropriate) 4th-6th grade: Using the issue you wrote your persuasive letters about, write a dialogue between yourself and your parents. Include some descriptive details so we aren't bored to tears- describe emotions, facial expressions, place your characters in a setting, etc. Avoid over-using "said"- check out
7th-12th grade: Same as 4th-6th grade assignment, only have the dialogue between you and your best friend. Include some rationale as to why the two of you would be talking about the issue in the first place. ** Image ID #933346 Unavailable ** |
