, where I got most of this semester's writing ideas!

Week 1: (Thanks MandiK~ : p Author IconMail Icon for this idea!)

all ages
1) Write a short piece about "What if there was no school..."

2) Make a list of ten new what-ifs. Put them on separate pieces of paper & place them in the what-if jar.

3) Pick a what-if- use it to write a story or poem.

Week 2 (Thanks SilverValkyre loves YOU! Author IconMail Icon for this idea!)
1) All ages: Pick a modern convenience. Write about how you use it in your daily routine.

2) Pick a different time in history/place in the world. Middle grades & up must research use of the modern convenience in the chosen time/place. 1st-3rd grade, read about daily life in that time or place. (or parent read to them)

3) Continue research.
1-3rd grade: Write one paragraph about something you learned about that time/place. Include at least three details.

4th-up: Write a one page report about what you learned. Use paragraphs!

4) All ages: You are transplanted to the place/time of your research. Write a story about what happens.

Week 3:
All ages: Pick a place in the world you would like to visit. Research & take notes.

1-3rd gr.: Find out about the weather, landmarks, natural resources, food, art.

4-6th: In addition to the above, also find out about the economy, languages, music

7-12th: In addition to the above, also find out about the government and history.

Week 4:
All ages: Write a report about the place you researched. Make a craft or picture from that place for art.

4-6th: In addition to the above, also play some music from that country for the family (either a recording or on your instrument).

7-12th: In addition to the above, also cook a dish on your cooking night from the country you chose.
