Welcome back! I hope you all got some down time this summer. Recreation, relaxation, contemplation... Yeah, right! We're home schoolers- LIFE is school! If you haven't already checked it out, take a look at
Week 1: (Thanks MandiK~ : p for this idea!) all ages 1) Write a short piece about "What if there was no school..." 2) Make a list of ten new what-ifs. Put them on separate pieces of paper & place them in the what-if jar. 3) Pick a what-if- use it to write a story or poem. Week 2 (Thanks SilverValkyre loves YOU! for this idea!) 1) All ages: Pick a modern convenience. Write about how you use it in your daily routine. 2) Pick a different time in history/place in the world. Middle grades & up must research use of the modern convenience in the chosen time/place. 1st-3rd grade, read about daily life in that time or place. (or parent read to them) 3) Continue research. 1-3rd grade: Write one paragraph about something you learned about that time/place. Include at least three details. 4th-up: Write a one page report about what you learned. Use paragraphs! 4) All ages: You are transplanted to the place/time of your research. Write a story about what happens. Week 3: All ages: Pick a place in the world you would like to visit. Research & take notes. 1-3rd gr.: Find out about the weather, landmarks, natural resources, food, art. 4-6th: In addition to the above, also find out about the economy, languages, music 7-12th: In addition to the above, also find out about the government and history. Week 4: All ages: Write a report about the place you researched. Make a craft or picture from that place for art. 4-6th: In addition to the above, also play some music from that country for the family (either a recording or on your instrument). 7-12th: In addition to the above, also cook a dish on your cooking night from the country you chose. ** Image ID #933346 Unavailable ** |
