mysteriousgirl, you have to let go of that "fear of rejection" mentality - just let it go. If a working writer doesn't have enough rejection slips to wallpaper a small bathroom, he's not working hard enough.

Rejection is more about market needs and money and space than about you or your worth as a writer. How many times have you gone shopping and passed on countless outfits or things to buy? Shot 'em down in flames, didn't you? You can't buy everything on the shelf - but someone's going to buy most of it, eventually. It's economics and need, supply and demand. Rejection doesn't mean "this sucks" (unless it clearly says so, but you won't usually get more than a formal "Sorry, but this doesn't meet our needs at this time. Best of luck elsewhere." It's just "I'm not buying this, right now."
