Hi Jenn;

I'm new to this forum, however thought your idea was a good one. You may wish to check out works by Diane Mott Davidson and Kathryn Hall Page. Both authors write in the mystery genre and have their lead characters as caterers who solve crime. Their stories are liberally peppered with preparations for parties as well as including the actual recipes for the reader to enjoy.

Even though you may not want to solve a mystery, it might be worthwhile to check out how another author handles two types of writing within the same book. Hope this helps.
