Writer's Fallout Shelter

A minor is raped in Alice Sebold's "Lovely Bones." I haven't read the whole thing, only snippets on the net, including the rape scene. It is not pornographic or titillating and seems important to the plot. I would write it if I had the inspiration and the talent.
