I think I achieved this in my poem now out for review (plug plug) "I am a Contra Dancer". On a literal level it is about a form of dancing. On a figurative level it is about an approach to life.

I think I know what you mean, but writing layers is an advanced technique that is probably beyond most of us at WDC.
I think you sell yourself short. I look back at my earlier work and while it is not as crafted as what I might write now, the basic structure, the bones of are there. Really, if you're able to achieve a simple, coherent story, that's what is important. From there, the rest, as my sensei says, is gravy.
