That's nice about the ACLU board member helping out the protesters. I love protesters. I like it more when they're willing to get themselves arrested, though. Used to be a black person could get arrested for not sitting in the back of the bus, or staying in a segregated diner, so bus loads of black people willingly did those things and got themselves arrested. It was unfair, they had to go to inferior schools every day and there were these awful medical experiments. These days people are being punished because they disagree. The policy is “this is the way we want it and we're going to take something away from you if you don't play ball.” So I say take the fine and get fired. Tolerance doesn't mean you have to participate in things you disagree with and freedom of religion, as long as your not hurting anyone, does not necessitate compromise. Because of that, if the ACLU is all about freedom to believe what you want and not be forced to do things you disagree with, or forbidden to do things you want, then they should sue the state of New Jersey when and if the first judge or mayor gets fired. |
