A place for adults to discuss writing and write intelligently on any topic, from E and up |
Occasionally i will come across a piece that is written by some one apparently drunk or being malice.. In my opinion they deserve a bad review. Secondly they need to wake up in the morning and figure out someone found them very rude. Do i on the other hand need to be attacked because i voiced an opinion that were rude or malice. As well it maybe worthwhile to allow anonymous reviews to exemplify that it is not worthy. Secondly if it is a mediocre piece and i have nothing i can add what is the point of making me write 10 - 500 words to say that it is mediocre and i don t have fix for it.. For many pieces i review i have some consistent thoughts a: will it ever get published b: will it have an affect good or bad on someone who needs it. Another reason is..... i may want to share what i thought of a piece without belittling it s importance to others. IE an addict may need to hear an experience i find avoidable and uninteresting but does that mean someone else doesn t need to hear it. Probably not but will i review it more than mediocre given my experience probably not either. But would changing it make a difference.... again probably not. So what am i to tell them...uhhhh i don t understand. their response is usually .....well you have never experienced it you dumbass.....hmmm.....My usual response is fair enough but that gets annoying for both me and them. Therfore often i will rate a mediocre piece on the writing style but, even that is subject to taste. So therefore i cherish my anonymity in certain circumstances. Especially in circumstances where it is probable that the piece cannot benefit from my input because i do not know all the circumstances behind it. To conclude It is a complicated issue but i would not want to lose my choice to be anonymous when those who retaliate without question are always anonymous.
