A sanctuary for weary writers, inky wretches, and aspiring professional novelists. |
I usually write my first draft chapter-by-chapter. Also, when you begin a chapter always try to "hook" the reader. That is, present a problem or a conflict of some sort. Most people stress this at the beginning of a novel, which is good, but you need a good hook for every chapter just so the reader will keep going once they reach chapter 15. Another piece of advice I would give is never end a chapter with an answered question. Keep the reader wanting to read on to find out what happens. ~The Messenger "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." -Ralph Waldo Emerson |
