Bubble Trouble

Pride and vanity? Oh yes........
Distracted by our inventions, silk and silver-screened digitized dignities -
Pop goes the weasle -

We've invented no end of myths that allow us to live with ourselves.
And somewhere deep beneath the atrociously bad-mannered boorishness
of our most boisterous self-expressions....something precisely brilliant always lurks.
Nurtured by an America that still (in spite of itself) hasn't figured out quite yet, how to
stomp out the spark of invincible stubborn-ness.
When black Americans were hardly so and merely slaves, magic was afoot.
They didn't know it then, but just the same, it slept and gathered unto itself deep
within Mississippi mud - what would later rock the world.

Perhaps each generation loses half a step of that measure, stumbles, unsure, unsteady,
unknowing or believing...
But I believe, all across the land, everywhere - something's brewing.
Apocalypses? Holocausts? The DOW downfall? hardly.....................

America preens for the ceremony - a self-proclaimed champion.
(the planet meanwhile digs the colas and the beat)
more than likely able to forgive us our blemishes and our fallibility
better than we can bless ourselves...
