YA Novels

Ok so I am finally getting somewhere with one of my novel ideas... I was wondering, how does one know if their chapters are the right length, or does it matter? also, how do I know if i'm using too many big words for my readers or if it's ok , because it is natural for me to use some big words...
Anyone want to dicuss YA novels or novelwriting in general, please reply or email me.. would love some opinions on this...
