Reunions
MAY 15 ENTRY: Have you ever attended a school, class, or military reunion? Write about the experience of seeing people you once knew well but haven't talked to in years. Were they the same people now as then? Were you? Did you find yourself falling back into your old role from that time?

High school reunions? Nah, I ain't that old yet. It's been just 8 years since I graduated high school. Would I go if it were to appear on the horizon, I don't think so. School was ok I guess, except maybe junior year, but I am not nostalgic. I keep in touch with the people I want to keep in touch with on Facebook and phones and I do not wish to know much more about the others.

I will tell you about one hilarious incident that happened on my mom's 30th reunion last year. They had a water fight! Yes! Squirt guns and all! Only the organisers were in on it. Damn, that is one reunion I would have enjoyed. Everyone had a blast mom told me. The squirt guns had been hidden underneath the chairs and mom and one of her friend were actually the first ones to discover the hidden items. What ensued was a riot of laughter, fun and frolic. She had a tear in her eye while recounting the story. For once it was as if they were kids again....

But such reunions are rare indeed, instead of meeting old friends, catching up and enjoying oneself, people are more interested in bragging. Mom told me that one of her classmates who used to be quite popular back then, actually brought a male escort to pass off as her husband! I mean seriously? The nostalgia is gone and reunions have become bragfests basically. I earn more than you, I date a supermodel, I am a fashion photographer, cut the crap people! It's just one day!

I guess I wouldn't go to my reunion if one took place anytime soon because some of the things I did, I am not proud of them. I wasn't bullied or anything. Guess what, I was young and silly and probably didn't know better. I remember I almost flung myself at a girl who I had a crush on, even though there wasn't any reciprocation. The worst part was that she saw this and used it for her benefit. But that's a story for another day...

Would the people have changed much? I don't think many would have. The qualities one acquires during teenage have a tendency to linger. Ugh! This reminds me of an arrogant douche I definitely don't want to see. He always used to back bitch/criticise/mock everyone! And by everyone i mean EVERYONE. We even had a joke going around that he probably doesn't even spare his mom. But I digress...

There are some people I would like to see though, people I have lost touch with, people who I wanted to know more but couldn't. I guess I don't have much to brag about so I probably won't fit in with the 250 odd people. I never did really, even back then....
