Dressed in my best suit and putting my best foot forward, I walk into the office of the Controller for a company for which I am hoping to land a job.
She looks up and says, “You’re Seymour’s mom.” I smile and reply, “You’re Crystal’s mom.”
Seymour is one of my beloved Saint Bernards. Crystal is a spunky, young Sheltie. The two met in a doggie obedience class. Although I didn't bother to remember the name of the woman with Crystal at the time, I came to know her quite well as a member of the accounting team reporting to her where I now work.
What is the point to this ‘tail’? My dogs are my life. They are a part of everything I do. So, it stands to reason they would be the focus of my writing and creative work.
I am the editor of The Saint Fancier (published by the Saint Bernard Club of America). I write not only for the magazine, but also for myself. Although I have yet to publish any of my fiction musings, I write because I must. Just as my dogs are, writing is a part of who I am.
