OT: How much history to include...

Good afternoon, I'm revising my novella Garden Gate. Chapter 3 imparts old family histories that are germane to story, but kinda boring for reader. I'm not sure how to make it more interesting. The character doing the remembering is driving a car, she is an attorney, mulling over information in her head as she drives. I'm open to suggestions.
