Megan: I know that feeling of 'empty nest'; something every parent knows will come...my eldest went into USAF and South Korea, Phillippines, Germany, Spain, Greenland, so many places and, like most men, not many letters written....Just smile at him each morning and know he's doing what young adults do, live their life...but believe in love, a son always loves his mother and the bond they share; cherish the bond and wrap your heart around him each day. For me, well, he's now 54 and his love for his mother is deeper and greater than I could ever have imagined. I raised him and 2 daughters as a single mom with no child support or interest from their father; no, I couldn't buy him a car for high school graduation, but he says whenever some guy brags about a car at graduation he proudly says, "If my mom had been a man she'd have been paid better salaries and I'd have had a new car at graduation. But the rules and salaries were always against her; she was one great mom." And, he now visits with his sweet wife of two years, at least once a year and calls often. Megan, your son will always be close...and near the telephone for your long detailed conversatons; he used to call me from his motel as he traveled for work, would talk to me the whole time he was taking his laundry downstairs, until he had them dry, folded and back upstairs in his suitcase.
