I changed the whole point of my protagonist background story

I submitted my protagonist background story to contest already but this morning I changed totally everything. I wrote another one, actually, I'm still writing. Is that alright? Am I eligible for the contest still? Last night I just wanted to write anything but this morning when I woke up I wanted to write about something totally different. I'm looking forward to read the other contestant stories, those who are accessible of course.
