I sort of understand what you are describing but have no clue about "House of Cards".

Unfortunately, I have not read Jane Eyre either.

Okay what about Farris Bueller's Day Off would that count as breaking the 4th wall? Is the only way to describe breaking the wall in writing to address the reader specifically?
