If Otho was raised in a certain religion and he felt that it was an obligation, privilege, right, necessary or important to stick his face in fire, then that is what he would do.

There is a really interesting thing in philosophy that discusses rights and wrongs and the fact that there are no absolutes.

I wouldn't take his character from the point that he is a deviant, but that he has absolute belief in his truth. To others this truth might be wrong or misguided or crazy, but to him it is normal and what has to happen.
