Toxic. I think that's definitely the right word. Spine also comes to mind. Like me not having one until it was "too late." I don't mean that the way it sounds. I mean, I've made my choice, knowing what the package contained. Now, I've developed the spine I've always needed. Hopefully, it will continue to support me the rest of my life!
