It totally makes sense that childhood illnesses can contribute to mental illness. It is a critical time of brain development and if the body is working to fight off serious issues, the brain could be affected. I have a brother that has tremors due to being a sickly infant who got oxygen for a prolonged time. If this can happen neurologically, then it also makes sense that other mental issues can be caused from early illness.
