My Self-Care

*Dollar* 100 GPs were sent to Charlie ~ Author Icon with this post.
This season of grayness and cold makes it difficult for me to feel like I have any self-care “rituals.” My morning routine is less than routine. I do my usual personal hygiene clean-up, combing my hair, etc.

My dogs require a lot of attention in the morning and evening—feeding and administering insulin to my little blind dog.

Drinking coffee and checking email is a habit that is ritualized, I suppose. It’s my way of getting myself off my butt. lol

I spend a lot of time isolated in my home. I cope (sometimes) by listening to the morning news. It keeps me tuned in to current events. I have added the MHWA Challenge to my daily care. It has helped me keep a regular writing schedule.

In the past, I exercised at a local gym, and I worked for the mental health center here in town. Exercising helped me feel better about myself physically and mentally. When the weather turned evil, I quit the gym. And, I quit my job earlier this year because of increased anxiety. I notice the difference in my mental health.

I get through my day with my attachment to my computer. I, also, look forward to my partner’s arrival home from work. Some days are harder than others.
