I'm not surprised that your mental health is at its worst when your anxiety is at its worse. For me, my anxiety will completely take over my life at its worst. Depressive episodes will too, but it's in a less manic and intrusive way. It's more like I'll just lay in bed for several days and not do anything. During a bad anxiety cycle though, I'm pretty sure I'm like one move from getting myself thrown into a padded room.
It makes sense that your highs and lows are situational too. I think a lot of people are triggered by certain situations. I know seasons get people a lot. I live in a climate that has really cold winters and even the most chipper people I know start getting worn down by January/February every year.
It sounds like you've improved a lot of your coping habits, which is awesome. Much healthier this way.
