I generally like possessions more, but swaps have been growing on me as the years move on in all honesty. As for favorite types or themes with possessions, I like there to be this air of deviancy or curiosity looming over the possessor since he or she is literally leaping into someone else's life uninvited to either relieve boredom or just sate whats desired if we use project GHOST. That also leaves you to explore aspects of a persons life whether they be skinny, chubby, professional business person or a general bum...etc. Same goes for swaps but that allows for more mutual interactions between the swappers and a bit more ways to mess with it like the head swapping stuff or swapping bodies via clothes as one interactive had it set in the past.
