Actually, like Neva and Char, I was born on December 27th but I have never minded the combined holidays. I mean, I might have had a combined present but it was usually a GOOD one according to our finances. About 20 years ago, after many family squabbles while I still had them, I decided I only really want a birthday cake. I love bday cake. Used to work in a bakery frosting them. Something my mom tried hard to do for us, despite finances. Now I am just happy to get my cake lol. Anything else is unexpected goodness.
Besides, even as a kid I mighta wanted a birthday party, but I don't think the attention on me would have been great. Now that I've definitely embraced my introvertedness, there's no way I could have an actual party, even if I found real life friends to come to it lol. It's energy... energy's too low to go out and reel some in
When my mom and I moved from Southern California to my Oregon forest, we gave up all pretense of a normal life. Normal as in what others expect. Some Christmas days we sleep lol it depends on health and stuff, but there's always a roaring fireplace, a turkey or ham usually, and our cats. I think it's New Year's day they play A Christmas Story over and over and I try to catch some of that because it's still hilarious after all these years.
Yeah there's a sadness thinking back on holidays in calif with my daughter when she was younger, but that's life. Staying out of her 'drama' as Angela put it, is the perfect reason for me to just chill.
Welcome home Char
