Technically, you can put probably 100 or so chapters in a Book item on WDC based on size limit (Hey. it's only thirty books!). With a little more work, you can add a link from a chapter to those chapters of a second (or third, fourth) choice option simulating an Interactive where there is a split. Just put the second branch of chapters by themselves somewhere in the book so they don't get hit clicking "Next." Or you can put them in a separate Static item linked together (a Static item can probably hold about 15 BoM chapters). No more restrictions to access with Books. Still gotta decide which storylines (assuming the thirty book thing is not an option ).

To ease finding which branch to follow, any reader needs to have a quick and simple way to understand what type of story is going to follow. If a branch takes them down a path where there's little body-changing, some might want to stay on the other branch or a different storyline. Perhaps an overview blurb could preface anything. E.g. "Will becomes a male drug dealer in high school, but mistakenly leaves the real dealer in an identity where he can blackmail Will." or "Will is manipulated to become various girls to further the manipulator's plans." or "Will gets caught by people who know magic much better than him." In other words, they can see if it's more action, mystery, or fun-with-body-changing. Easy to add in Book item, but character limit may affect doing in a lite Interactive with some chapters.

I would think that most readers will want to get to the end of a storyline rather than be stopped part way through and told to go to the Interactive to continue (if they can access it). A new Book item should finish a branch to where it is today. It's whether or how they can read the other branches without getting lost or confused that needs to be solved (if they even need to read them). Not republishing inconsequential branches is a start, but maybe those few chapters are actually really interesting.

Difficult quandary.
