This quote seems a bit defeatist to me. Having a strong background in science, I cannot deny that entropy exists and we are all born to die. However, what science also tells us is that life will find a way. It always does. And from that breaking apart that entropy causes, new life emerges. On my good days, I try to look at it like a butterfly coming out of it's chrysalis or a reptile shedding its skin.
Possibly, even in our mental states, the breaking down that is entropy could be a sign of impending growth/rebirth. I'm glad I'm on a good day, because I would have totally taken your quote as negative as it could go were I in the midst of my downward spiral.
Life (and these quotes) can all be viewed from so many different angles. Look at it all from where it makes you happiest.
