Question about the spells that create golems: It's canonically stated that each spell essentially places a bit of the caster's Essentia into the formed golem, and in order to do so, it has to use a body part from the caster. It's been established to require only a bit of hair in order to create that link. Is it possible to use another body part - in specific, is it possible to use blood instead? (Not much, just a little bit.) In case it isn't; can a magician experienced in sigil writing alter the sigil that requires hair as a component to alter it to blood instead? And if so, would it be any different, or it'd be the same as using hair? (Reason: consider the same expert sigillist is also an absolute master of blood magic, in as much as blood magic is mostly a way to use blood as a component and catalyst; for example, have a drop of blood on someone's body, and use spells that instantly identify said individual by serving as a beacon, or specify their location, to speak of relatively benign or harmless actions. Would using blood instead of hairs in a golem create the necessary link to use those spells?) Subsequent question: assume a blood mage places a drop of its blood on a golem. Would that golem be affected by blood magic, as stated on the reason above? (Assume, for the sake of exercise, that blood magic is canonical in the BoM-verse. The concept I'm using is loosely based on the Dragon Age series of games, but with some refinements.) |
