Good morning, and welcome to Writing.Com, giantpokemons.

Putting your first story "out there" for all to see is a little scary. On the one hand, you'll see little improvement without others' input--comments, suggestions, and yes, criticisms. You have to be willing to receive criticism. Not everyone is. Just remember the you (only YOU) can take what someone says OR ignore it. Also remember, any comments are just that person's opinion, and everyone has an opinion. It doesn't make it right or wrong

You might try reading other stories in your desired genres for ideas, methods, and styles.
