A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
This is a great concept! Sign me up because I want to read it! If it were me I would focus on your protagonist in three ways. First, what are his flaws? This will help you flesh out your character. Second, what are his wants? Decide what he wants as it relates to The Blood Law. And third, what is the lesson he needs to learn? What life lesson, or what universal lesson does he need to learn? What does he become? It's the theme of the story. Remember that he's motivated by his wants and not his needs. He fixes things the wrong way until he hits rock bottom and the dark night of the soul. Only then can he realize how to fix things the right way and learn his life lesson. You may want to write a short story about his life BEFORE this story takes place. You might also want to write a short story about his life ten years AFTER this story takes place. Set a timer and give yourself thirty minutes for each part. You'll be surprised by what you write! And if that doesn't help then go online and read some of the headlines around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. There's some fascinating history here in Tennessee. It's funny you should mention the Smoky Mountains...I live in Maryville and have gorgeous views of the Smokies from my house! And one more thing that might be of interest! I live on the "Tuckaleechee" side of the Smokies. That's a Cherokee word that means "Peaceful Valley". There's a legend here that people ran to this side to avoid The Blood Law. Some say there are still families who still respect The Blood Law. There are some interesting stories here... Wow! This will be a great story! I wish you the best of luck. I really want to read this when you're published! Cheddah ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
