Re: Re: Sydney McGlynn‘s Motivations
It's a combination. Its the magic that brings them together and as you can see by the minimal to non-existant role she plays in most branches likely they'd never even so much as interact with one another without magic being the catalyst. That said it's their time together that causes her to become genuinely attracted to him for I think the same reasons a lot of other girls do when they're paired up with him: he's loyal and nice and genuinely goes out of his way to help them without coming off as a lecherous creep.

Usually when they're put into situations which means interacting with him more their views on him begin changing as they get to see more of the qualities that they like. So Sydney, I don't think, would plan on backstabbing Will. I think there might be tension if Will, already in this deep, decided to back out but I can't see her as written deciding to then turn Will into a puppet because he "knows too much" or something. Nor would I see her as deciding that he's kind of outlived his usefulness to her and do something.

With Will and romance in general, it's just kind of an easy story while also being an easy way to give someone (or groups) spotlight that they might not be able to get otherwise as it often forces them into a situation where we a.) see more of them and b.) they'll have to reveal different sides of themselves. The Chelsea branches or the one where Will and Kelsey are swapped are good examples of that.

That said a few of my favorite characters -- like Jenny, Lindsay Cho or Alex Day -- don't really have any romantic pinings for him at all but I think are generally dynamic enough that it's not a problem.
