I’m actually liking Dr. Gus quite a lot. He seems to me exactly how I imagined an Eldibria/Kennandandra would be, perfect at taking people apart physically and mentally. From what I’ve seen so far, I think you’re nailing that aspect. I think the doctor not being mentioned definitely makes a lot of sense compared to somebody like Mireya, considering his planets lend themselves well to somebody who stays buried in a lab with little inclination to leave it, especially given that he lives in Mexico. It’s not all that much different than Maria Cardozo, Miranda Duggan, or Imam el-Bayoumi, who don’t have much call to appear simply because the story doesn’t go there. I don’t believe we’ve ever seen Miranda Duggan, and to the best of my knowledge she’s only been mentioned once. I find his inclusion nowhere near as jarring as I found Mireya. I’m looking forward to seeing more from this new Stellae.
