A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
I have always loved to write. It's always felt soothing and comforting to pour out so many thoughts and feelings onto keys or paper, a way to help the heart feel less heavy. In the past, I have only written for myself. Except for a few expressive pieces, it's been mostly a self journey of journaling. But recently that all changed. Several years ago, my mother passed away. She was a writer. She loved her craft and wrote for years. Life kept her from finishing much of what she started. Before Mom died, she asked me to finish a story she began writing in the '70s. It's a tale of love and regret and hope. I felt quite familiar with the story because we would sometimes sit and talk about the characters as if they were our neighbors. Working on and completing this project has sparked a passion in my heart, and I have enjoyed every minute of the task she asked me to complete. The light has turned on, and I just want to write! Perhaps this was my mother's plan all along. I hope to learn as much as I can from those that have walked this path a while. Hopefully, I will discover the best way to navigate this site and benefit from what it has to offer. Thank you for letting me be a part! Maggie |
