Not sure what contest it is, but normally on the contest forum you either respond to a post or start a new post and indicate your entry by using the {bitem:xxxxxx} (where the x's are the number of your item, found next to the hashtag under its title in your portfolio).

Before you enter, make sure you have all the correct details required - for poetry the contests often want line count and form included - and that you have all pertinent information where it should be.
